The Indians had their postseason run come to an end Oct. 26.
Ten football players earned accolades for their performances this shortened season.
Fort Recovery High School seniors Gavin Thobe, Cobe Wendel, Kenny Jutte and Derek Jutte led the group as they were named first-team offense as the Midwest Athletic Conference named its all-conference honors Wednesday.
Thobe earned the honor as a receiver, Wendel as kicker, Kenny Jutte as guard and Derek Jutte as running back.
Thobe caught 25 passes for 324 yards and three touchdowns, which ranked second, fifth and tied for third, respectively, among MAC players during the six-game regular season. His 38 total points was tied for seventh in the league.
Wendel made 20 PATs throughout the regular season and one field goal. His 20 PATs was tied for third, and his 31 total points was 10th overall in the MAC.
Derek Jutte rushed 74 times for 436 yards and eight touchdowns before the postseason. Only six players had more carries than him, his 436 yards were fourth in the league and his eight TDs were bested only by Versailles’ Carson Bey, who had nine. Jutte’s 50 total points ranked third.
Kenny Jutte helped the Indians (3-5), who lost to No. 1 Coldwater in the Division VI regional quarterfinal two weeks ago, finish first in the league in passing (1,216 yards) and fifth overall in total offense (301.3 yards per game) with his blocking.
Second-team offensive honorees included tight end Logan Homan, receiver Regan Martin, punter Clay Schmitz and tackle Brian Bihn.
Martin caught 22 passes during the regular season for 442 yards — second among MAC receivers — and three touchdowns. Schmitz recorded 14 punts which covered 521 yards for an average of 37.2 yards per kick, which ranked second.
Derek Jutte (corner), Thobe (inside linebacker) and Martin (safety) were placed on the second team defense. Thobe’s 73 total tackles led all MAC players during the regular season.
Fort Recovery Owen Moorman and Colin Knapke received honorable mention.
Coldwater’s Myles Blasingame was named MAC offensive player of the year, while Marion Local’s Grant Meier earned defensive player of the year.
The MAC did not recognize a conference champion or coach of the year because of the coronavirus-shortened season.
