Evelyn Gose

June 30, 1944-Nov. 11, 2020

Evelyn Floris Gose, 76, a resident of Portland, passed away Nov. 11, 2020, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. She’s a former resident of Indianapolis.

Evelyn was born on June 30, 1944, in Lima, Ohio, to Elmer and Floris (Painter) Rowe. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Indianapolis. Evelyn worked for J.B. Hunt, Nighthawk Commodities and Art to Remember in Indianapolis.

Survivors include:

Eight children — Herbert Howell Jr., Shirley Gruss (husband: Dennis), Portland, Rebecca Hudson (husband: Waldo), Portland, Beverly Phenis, Ridgeville, Indiana, Mary Emrick (husband: Dennis), Greenville, Ohio, Richard Howell (wife: Malinda), Union City, Ohio, Nathaniel Howell (wife: Gayle), Pendleton, and Laura Johnson (husband: James), Dayton, Oregon

One brother — Raymond Rowe Sr. (wife: Jane), Texas

Several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren

Several nieces and nephews

Visitation will be held on Monday from 3 to 6 p.m. at The Family Worship Center, 200 E. Elder St., Portland. Services to celebrate Evelyn’s life will follow at 6 p.m. on Monday at the church. Burial will follow at a later date in Lima Memorial Gardens in Lima, Ohio.

The family wishes in lieu of flowers that a tree in memory of Evelyn be planted in her memory or donate to any cancer organization. Donations may also be directed toward A Better Way of Muncie.
