Virginia Grissom, age 95, of Portland passed away Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020, in Persimmon Ridge Healthcare.
She was born in Bryant on Feb. 21, 1925, the daughter of John and Anna (Fisher) Schmit. She was married on Oct. 26, 1946, to Joseph Grissom and he died on July 29, 1997. Virginia was a cafeteria manager for Jay School Corporation for over 20 years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Surviving are two sons Greg Grissom of Goshen, Indiana, and Tom Grissom (wife: Jeanne) of Rapid City, South Dakota; four daughters, Cynthia Wallace (husband: Kenneth) of Knox, Indiana, Rosemary Smith (husband: David) of Fort Wayne, Margaret Wiley (husband: Robert) of Union City, Indiana, and Elaine Gibson (husband: Gene) of Goshen, Indiana; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Fr. Peter Logsdon presiding. Burial was in the Green Park Cemetery in Portland.
Baird-Freeman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
