ARCANUM, Ohio — The Indians scored 14 points in the opening quarter and trailed the Trojans by just one.
They scored fewer than that over the next two periods.
Fort Recovery High School’s girls basketball team got outscored 27-13 in the middle two quarters in a 55-43 loss to the host Arcanum Trojans in the semifinal of the Roy Hutchison Memorial Tournament on Friday.
The Indians (0-1) meet the Franklin Monroe Jets in the tournament consolation at 7:30 p.m. today, while the Trojans square off against the Russia Raiders for the tourney title at the same time.
After being down by one point after eight minutes, the Indians fell behind 30-23 at halftime. The Trojans used a 12-4 advantage in the third quarter to lead 42-27. The Indians mounted a bit of a comeback during the fourth but the early deficit proved too much.
Whitley Rammel led the Indians with 10 points, and Alli Vaughn chipped in nine points. Paige Fortkamp added six points, and Brenna Homan contributed four points.
