Jay County High School’s girls basketball team gave up just two points in two separate quarters Saturday in crushing the host Golden Eagles 44-20.
It’s the fewest points the Patriots (3-1) have surrendered since a 77-17 win against Blackford on Dec. 20, 2018.
Sophomore Renna Schwieterman outscored Oak Hill by herself, pouring in a season high 21 points for her ninth career game of 20 or more. She also led the team with 10 rebounds.
Izzy Rodgers collected 13 points, and Sophie Saxman tallied four points.
Jay County’s junior varsity team also won, 33-19. Bralee VanSkyock led the Patriots (2-1) with eight points.
Indians win
ARCANUM, Ohio — Four players scored in double figures in leading the Fort Recovery girls basketball team to a 65-32 win against the Franklin Monroe Jets in the consolation game of the Roy Hutchison Memorial Tournament at Arcanum.
Fort Recovery (1-1) got 19 points from senior Alli Vaughn, who made three 3-pointers and scored 10 of the Indians’ 23 points during the third quarter.
Kiah Wendel was second to Vaughn with 13 points, and Whitley Rammel contributed 11 points.
Paige Fortkamp finished with 10 points.
