Kathryn Black

Kathryn Black, age 78, a resident of Portland, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020, at Persimmon Ridge in Portland.  

Kathy was born on April 30, 1942, in Portland, Indiana, the daughter of Eugene and Vivian (Harker) Fiely. She graduated from Fort Recovery High School and married Irvin J. Black Sr. on June 30, 1962. He passed away on Dec. 25, 2011.  

Kathy worked for CTS in Berne for several years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portland and the Moose Lodge of Portland.  

Survivors include:

Two sons — Irvin Black Jr. (wife: Sue), Muncie, Indiana, and Michael Black (spouse: Anthony), Chicago, Illinois 

Two brothers — Steve Fiely (wife: Deb), Fort Recovery, Ohio, and Bill Fiely (wife: Linda), Sheridan, Indiana

Two sisters — Debbie Newton (husband: Gary), St. Mary’s, Ohio, and Terri Maguire, Portland, Indiana 

Two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin Black Sr. and a son, Thomas Black.

Graveside services for Kathy Black will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at Green Park Cemetery in Portland.

Arrangements are being handled by Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland.
