Obituary
Homer E. Steen, age 93, a resident of Portland passed away Thursday, Oct. 1, 2020, at Albany Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Homer was born Dec. 31, 1926, in Portland, Indiana, the son of Frank and Delia (Geesman) Steen. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II. He then retired from Sheller Globe after 36 years. Homer was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Portland D.A.V. and the Portland American Legion.
Homer married Dorothy (Gaskill) Steen on July 11, 1953, and she passed away on June 26, 2014.
Survivors include:
•Two sons — Homer Allen Steen (wife: Becki), Portland, Indiana, and Jack Steen (wife: Diane), Celina, Ohio
•Three grandchildren — Amanda Kendall (husband: Stephen), Hartford City, Indiana, Jeremy Steen (wife: Becky), Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Stephanie Smith (husband: Russ), Avilla, Indiana
•Seven great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and several brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from noon to 2 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral will follow at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow with military rites in Wells Cemetery, north of Portland.
Memorials may be directed to Cornerstone Baptist Church in Portland.
