To the editor:
There have been fliers distributed around Portland calling for a parade in support of the president to take place on Oct. 25, 2020.
Considering that Portland has been extraordinarily responsible in not holding parades this year, the only conclusion one can come to is that this will put our community’s health at greater risk than is necessary. Any parade requires that we have our police and first responders ready to go at a moment’s notice, and we can best support them by not coming into contact with them.
Cases have consistently gone up since school started, and we doubt people at said parade will be wearing their masks.
The Jay County Democratic Party denounces this parade.
