Seven months later, the awards will be presented.
Jay County Chamber of Commerce announced this week that it will hold its Jay County Community Awards dinner and ceremony at 6 p.m. Oct. 26 at Jay County Event Center.
The awards were originally scheduled for March, but the event was postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
In an email this week, chamber director Tabby Sprung said the organization decided to hold the in-person event after Gov. Eric Holcomb moved the state to Stage 5 of its Back on Track Indiana plan. The chamber also consulted with Jay County Health Department.
Those interested in attending should email [email protected]. The cost is $28 and the deadline to register is Wednesday.

Ardagh awarded
EcoVadis awarded Ardagh, which operates glass manufacturing facilities in Dunkirk and Winchester, its Gold certification for sustainability performance.
EcoVadis gave the gold rating to 5% of the companies it assessed for implementing social and environmental measures.
One of Ardagh’s recent moves was to become a part of the European Union’s Clean Hydrogen Alliance. The alliance is focused on developing hydrogen technologies for commercial use in an effort to reach carbon neutrality by 2050.
“The recognition from EcoVadis for the fifth year is terrific as sustainability has long been at the core of the culture here at Ardagh,” said Ardagh chief operating officer Shaun Murphy. “We established a Board Sustainability Committee to enhance and help accelerate the pursuit of our global sustainability objectives.”

A nurse midwife is now seeing patients in Fort Recovery.

Adding items
McDonald’s is adding bakery items to its breakfast menu.
The fast-food chain announced Wednesday that it will begin offering apple fritters, blueberry muffins and cinnamon rolls. They will be available at participating restaurants nationwide.

Facility opens
Reid Health in Richmond is now accepting applications for its new Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly center.
The facility is a “coordinated care option” designed for those who might otherwise require a nursing home. It will offer services including primary care, rehabilitation, adult day services, recreational activities, social support and transportation.
“PACE centers meet specific needs in care designed to help those who qualify maintain their best health and continue living in their home,” Reid Health vice president Billie Kester said in a press release.
Planning to hire
Dollar Tree announced plans this week to hire more than 25,000 employees for the holiday season.

Arby’s has brought the Jamocha Shake back to its menu.
The fast-food chain is bringing back the coffee/chocolate milkshake on a limited basis. It will be on the menu along with the traditional chocolate and vanilla flavors.
Dupont offering
Dupont Hospital in Fort Wayne has opened a new cardiac catheterization laboratory.
The lab specializes in checking the condition of the heart and coronary arteries. Procedures performed include heart catheterization, peripheral angiography and port placement.
“With the addition of this technology, Lutheran Health Network cardiologists now have the ability to provide more comprehensive cardiac care at Dupont Hospital, said Dr. Mark Meier. “The hospital continues to invest in quality resources for patients dealing with heart and vascular issues on the north side of Allen County and beyond.”
Concept opening
Dollar General has opened its first stores under the “popshelf” concept.
The new stores, the first of which will be in the Nashville, Tennessee, area, focus on seasonal and home decor, health and beauty, cleaning supplies and party items. About 95% of the store’s items are $5 or less.

Walmart has launched Walmart Insurance Services to assist those who need to enroll in health insurance plans.
Walmart Insurance Services will begin selling Medicare insurance plans Thursday. It will provide plans offered through Humana, UnitedHealthcare, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Amerigroup, Simply Health, Wellcare (Centene), Clover Health and Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
“We want customers to feel confident in selecting a Medicare plan that best fits their needs, budget and lifestyle,” said David Sullivan, general manager of Walmart Insurance Services, in a press release. “And we want to be a trusted partner on their health care journey. Dividend announced
CVS Health announced Wednesday that its board of directors approved a quarterly dividend of 50 centers per share. The dividend is payable on Nov. 2 to shareholders of record on Oct. 22.

NextEra Energy announced Wednesday that it will present its earnings report for the third quarter on Oct. 21.
NextEra, which operates Bluff Point Wind Energy Center in Jay and Randolph counties, will present the results in a press release at nexteraenergy.com. Chairman and CEO Jim Robo and other executives will discuss the numbers during a live webcast at 9 a.m. Oct. 21.
