This weekend’s church activities in Bryant will come with a bluegrass twist.
Bryant Wesleyan Church will host the band The Farm Hands for a concert at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
The Farm Hands — Tim Graves, Kimberly Bibb Marrs, Bryan Graves, David Mansfield III and Kelsey Crews — are a bluegrass group founded in 2010. It earned Bluegrass Gospel Band of the Year honors this year and last year at the Bluegrass Music Awards.
The band has a busy schedule, playing Friday afternoon at Heritage Pointe of Warren, Saturday evening at The Barns at Nappanee and following up their Bryant performance with a visit to Hope First Wesleyan Church Sunday evening. It will perform in Tennessee, Alabama and Missouri later in the month.
The church is located on U.S. 27 on the south side of Bryant.
Fair scheduled
The Alzheimer’s Association of Indiana is hosting a virtual informative event Friday.
Seniors and their families can log on for what the association is calling a Virtual Resource Fair from noon to 4:30 p.m. Friday. Registration is available at alz.org/CRF or by calling the association at (800) 272-3900.
A full schedule of events will be provided after registration. A driving specialist is one of the speakers and can provide guidance on when it’s time to stop driving after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or dementia.
Other speakers from the Indiana Long-term Care Ombudsman Program, the Indiana Association of Area Agencies on Aging, the Indiana Health Care Association and the Indiana Association of Home and Hospice Care will attend the fair.
Guidance available
Lutheran Health Network announced this week that it is providing a free helpline to assist Medicare recipients with choosing a health plan.
The Medicare enrollment period runs today through Dec. 7. The helpline will guide callers in comparing traditional plans, supplements and prescription plans and then work through the enrollment process.
Those in need of assistance can go online to medicarecompareusa.com or call (855) 583-2003 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Returning to JCPL
Jay County Public Library will host visits from Mother Goose beginning Friday.
Mother Goose will be at the library, 315 N. Ship St., Portland, at 11:15 a.m. each Friday. She will share stories, rhymes and activities with children in the facility’s Community Room.
The library is also holding story time at 10 a.m. each Tuesday at Hudson Family Park, weather permitting.
Also this month, East Central Indiana Paranormal Investigators will make a visit to the library at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 29. They will share ghost stories and paranormal research.

Mercer Health is offering flu shots at various sites this month.
Mercer Health began offering drive-thru flu shot clinics Monday. A clinic will be available Wednesday at its Fort Recovery location at 1830 Union City Road. Appointments are required by calling (419) 375-4144.
