MUNCIE — The Patriots lost to the Eagles back in August.
They weren’t able to knock reverse fortunes with the season on the line.
Jay County High School’s volleyball team had its year end with a 25-15, 25-17, 25-19 loss to the host Delta Eagles in the Class 3A Sectional 23 semifinal Saturday.
Delta lost in the sectional championship later that night to top-ranked Bellmont, which swept No. 2 Burris in the other semifinal.
Madison Dirksen posted seven kills to lead Jay County, which finished the year at 10-17. Alana Kunkler totaled four kills, and Natalie Miles contributed three kills.
Grace Brewster tallied eight digs, while Pacie Denney and Miles had four digs each. Abbie Fields and Kunkler each notched two total blocks.
Patriots blast Bruins
Jay County’s junior varsity football team scored 20 or more points in each of the first two quarters en route to a 54-0 victory over the Blackford Bruins on Saturday.
The Patriots (3-6) led 21-0 at the end of the first quarter and were out front 41-0 at halftime.
Christian Runkle rushed for 94 yards and three touchdowns on seven carries. Kadin Ridenour, Mason Johnson and Parker Nichols also had rushing scores.
Nichols threw a 46-yard TD pass to Justin DeHoff.
Peyton Bennett and Ryne Goldsworth both recovered fumbles and recorded a sack.
Doc aces hole
FARMLAND — Dave “Doc” Fullenkamp recorded an ace Saturday during his round at Hickory Hills Golf Club.
Fullenkamp used an 8-iron on the 155-yard, par-3 15th hole. He ended his round with a 6-over-par 76.
Witnesses to the accomplishment included Pat Bennett, Griffin Mann and Mark Tatman.
