David Younger

Obituary

David Joseph Younger, 71, of Pennville, Indiana, passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 15, 2020, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Dave was born in Jay County, Indiana, on March 15, 1949, a son of the late Nellie (Davis) and Kenneth Younger. He attended Redkey High School, was employed by Chrysler until his retirement and was the loving husband of Marion Jean (Powell) Younger, who he happily married on March 4, 1967.

Dave was well known for his dedication to the Lord and ministry through his many years singing with the Christianaires. He was a life member of Redkey Nazarene Church, Redkey Town Council and the little league board. He was also former chief of Redkey Volunteer Fire Department and foster parent to countless children over the years.

Dave enjoyed singing, listening to Christian music, watching western's, sports shows and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Marion Jean (Powell) Younger; three sons, Tim (wife: Lorrie), Travis (wife: Courtney) and Grant Powell; six daughters, Wendy Jester (husband: Jerry), Amanda Wormer, Rosa Carrigan, Angie Younger, Katie Younger and Miracle Williams; two sisters, Gladys Sain and Betty Jacobs; 23 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Danny; one daughter, Tammy; one brother, Jack Younger; and two sisters, Ida Helm and Donna Belt.

Friends are invited to call Friday, Oct. 23, 2020, from 5 to 8 p.m. at MJS Mortuaries — Redkey Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Redkey Church of The Nazarene with Pastor Rob Farris officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Redkey, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Redkey Church of The Nazarene.

Please be assured that for your health and safety, all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, government and local health department recommendations and guidelines are followed (facility maximum of people at one time up to social distancing allowance for square footage, masks are to be worn while in attendance, and hand sanitizer will be available, extra cleaning, and disinfecting measures have been taken).
