COLUMBUS GROVE, Ohio — The Indians added another accomplishment to their special season.

Fort Recovery High School’s girls cross country team, which was runner-up in the Midwest Athletic Conference a week earlier, had all seven of its competitors place 13th or better on Saturday in claiming the Division III Northwest District 2 championship at Columbus Grove High School.

The Indians totaled 35 points for the win, beating second place St. Henry by 16 points. Columbus Grove (84) was third, Waynesfield-Goshen (109) took fourth and Marion Local (141) was fifth.

Fort Recovery’s boys, who had one individual advance to regional, placed eighth with 176 points. Host Columbus Grove scored 31 points for first, leaving Bluffton (75) a distant second. Marion Local (98) was third, Parkway (115) was fourth and Waynesfield-Goshen (146) was fifth.

The top five teams and individuals placing in the top 12 advance to regional, set for Saturday at Tiffin University.

Fort Recovery freshman Ellie Will won the individual championship with her time of 19 minutes, 43.2 seconds. Jenna hart (20:35.9) was fifth, Brynn Stammen (20:58.3) placed eighth and Anna Wendel (21:33.6) placed 10th. Megan Diller (21:35.9) was the Tribe’s fifth scoring runner as she placed 11th. Hanna Metzger (21:38.0) and Alexis Wendel (21:41.4) were 12th and 13th, respectively.

FRHS freshman Trevor Heitkamp finished ninth in 17:27.4 to make his first career berth in regional. Caleb Rammel was 41st in 20:09.4, Ethan Evers finished 43rd in 20:29.2, Connor Gower was 45th in 20:51.5 and Luke Keller was 46th in 20:52.8.

Jac Barga (56th) and Christian Marchal (59th) also ran for the Tribe boys.
