Paul Stant

Paul L. Stant, age 67, a resident of Portland, passed away on Wednesday at Albany Health and Rehab in Albany, Indiana.

Paul was born on June 24, 1953, in Liberty, Indiana, the son of Paul W. and Jennie (Aker) Stant. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from the Jay County Retirement Center in Portland.

Paul married Patty Vanderbur on May 21, 2005.

Two stepsons — Pat Wells (wife: Melissa), Portland, Indiana, and Brad Wells, Portland, Indiana

One stepdaughter — Stacy Richardson (husband: Robert), Pennville, Indiana

Six brothers — Richard Stant, Portland, Indiana, Jeff Stant, Murray, Utah, Tom Stant, Portland, Indiana, Dennis Stant (wife: Kim), Winchester, Indiana, Steven Stant (wife: Juanita), Muncie, Indiana, and Michael Stant, Murray, Utah

Two sisters — Kim Abbott, Clarksville, Tennessee, and Tina Fisher (husband: Randy), Portland, Indiana

Two step-grandchildren and two great-granddaughters

Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. A service to celebrate Paul’s life will follow at 6 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Pastor Earl Doll will officiate the service and American Legion Post #211 of Portland will conduct military rites at the funeral home.
