Obituary
Linda J. Valentine, age 74, of Portland passed away Monday, Aug. 31, 2020, at her residence.
She was born in Portland on Sept. 14, 1945, the daughter of Marion Edward and Leah Margaret (Ashley) Shauver. She was married on Feb. 9, 1991, to James Valentine, who survives.
Linda had worked for Division of Family and Children and Jay Garment, both in Portland. She was a member of the River of Life Church and a 1963 Madison Township High School graduate and Indiana Business College graduate.
Surviving are her husband, James; three sons, Larry Hummer (wife: Pam) of Leo, Robert Hummer of Fort Wayne and Richard Hummer II (wife: Miranda) of Salamonia; one daughter, Dana Allen (husband: LaMonte) of Merced, California; two brothers, Robert Shauver (wife: Liz) of New Castle and Allen Shauver (wife: Kathy) of Portland; one sister, Janet Goad (husband: Brad) of Muncie; and nine grandchildren, Julian, Loryn, Kelani, Destinee, Trey, Caitlin, Christian, Audrey and Daniel.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Judith Franks and Nancy Arnold.
Funeral services will be Friday, Sept. 4, 2020 at 2 p.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Salamonia Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Friday.
