Jay and Blackford county soil and water conservation districts and the Upper Salamonie River Watershed are teaming to sponsor a free manure management and cover crop soil health field day at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Jay County Solid Waste Management District office, 5948 W. Indiana 67, Portland.
The event will feature fertilizer specialists, the owner of Agronimic Solutions, Justin Curley of Purdue Extension and and district conservationaist Ricardo Ortiz-Rios.

Fort Recovery State Museum will host Joe Beatty at 3 p.m. Sunday at Fort Recovery Cooper Pavilion in Community Park.
Beatty, a Houston, Texas, resident, will lead a discussion titled “Fort Jefferson: Past, Present and Future.”
Members of The Friends of Fort Jefferson will also have artifacts and exhibits on display from the Fort Jefferson archeological dig of 1930.
