VERSAILLES, Ohio — The Indian girls put two in the top 10.
Trevor Heitkamp had another career-best run.
Fort Recovery High School’s girls cross country team placed fourth and Heitkamp led the Tribe boys to a sixth-place finish in the Mini-Midwest Athletic Conference meet on Saturday.
Versailles totaled 48 points to win the girls race, with St. Henry (59) second and New Bremen (61) in third. Fort Recovery had 76 points for fourth.
Versailles also won the boys race with 45 points. Marion Local scored 58 points for runner-up, and Coldwater had 83 points for third. Fort Recovery scored 135 points.
Ellie Will was the top FRHS girl as she placed eighth in 21 minutes, 39.93 seconds, which was eighth overall. Brynn Stammen had a time of 21:59.65 for 10th. Megan Diller (22:06.9) was 15th, Anna Wendel (22:18.46) finished 18th and Hanna Metzger (22:36.34) was 25th.
Heitkamp, a freshman, was third overall in 18:09.46, an improvement of more than 30 seconds off his previous career-best time of 18:46.42 set a week earlier in the Celina Rotary Invitational. Conner Gower had a time of 20:17.96 for 22nd and Ethan Evers ended in 21:09.15 for 37th.
Luke Keller (21:14.65) took 38th and Caleb Rammel (22:04.31) was 48th.
Also running were Alexis Wendel (27th) and Jenna Hart (28) for the girls and Jac Barga (63rd) and Christian Marchal (79th) for the boys.
Middle school
Anna Roessner and Joelle Kaup led the FRMS girls to a third-place finish, while the boys were seventh.
Minster won the girls race with 20 points, and Versailles was second with 36. Fort Recovery was a distant third with 108 points.
Versailles won the boys race with 38 points, with Minster (45) second and Coldwater (71) third. Fort Recovery had 167 points.
Roessner crossed the finish line in 14:19.82 for 10th, and Kaup was 12th in 14:21.37. Maddie Heitkamp (15:35.91) was 28th, Aubrie Heitkamp (16:50.68) ended 38th and Megan Weitzel (16:53.49) was one spot behind.
Eli Lennartz was the top FRMS boy as he was 18th in 13:35.42. Evan Evers took 31st in 14:38.72, Matthew Marchal (16:09.96) ended 50th, Caleb Smith (16:16.92) was one spot behind Marchal and Drew Stammen (16:51.79) placed 58th.
Saidy Deroo (49th) also competed for the girls. Drew Backs (60th) and Caden Marchal (65th) ran for the boys.
