To the editor:
Every September, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration (SAMHSA) sponsors Recovery Month to increase awareness and understanding of mental health and substance use disorders. Recovery Month celebrates those who are in recovery that are living healthy and rewarding lives.
We would like to honor those in recovery by letting them add their voice to Recovery Month.
If you are in recovery, we would like you to send your first name only and length of sobriety, and briefly describe what was the deciding factor that encouraged you to turn your life around.
As we receive the responses, we will post them on our Facebook with #RecoveryMonth.
We will also use the responses to promote recovery on our Recovery Tree at the Jay County Courthouse in December.
Please send your statements to [email protected].
