Robert Dressel

Obituary

Robert Dean Dressel of Coldwater, Ohio, was born Aug. 19, 1969, in Glendale, Arizona, and has passed way Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020, at Lima Memorial Hospital in Lima, Ohio.

Bob was preceded in death by his father Robert Eugene Dressel; stepmother Jill Dressel; and grandparents Oliver Otto Dressel, Lois Claire Lingafelt Dressel, Hobart Brown “Brownie” Woodruff and Nellie May Bailey Woodruff.

Bob is survived by his wife Lynn Glonek Dressel; son Mitch Dressel; mother Connie Woodruff Lane; stepfather Charles Lane; brother Richard Dressel; sister-in-law Dawn Dressel; 15 nieces and nephews; four great-nieces and great-nephews; and many aunts, uncles and cousins who all loved him very much.

Bob was an overachiever in all he had done. He graduated from Jay County High School in 1987 where he was in the honor society, served as class president and was a valuable player on both the football and basketball teams.

Bob received a full scholarship to Purdue University, where he continued to pursue his dreams of playing football while earning a bachelor of science degree in building construction and contracting. While attending Purdue University, he was the football lifter of the year in (1990, 1991) and football team captain in (1991), received the Red Mackey leadership award in (1991) and honorable mention All-Big Ten (1991), and was a participant in both the Blue/Gray All-Star Football Classic (1991) and the Kodak Hula Bowl (1992).

After college, Bob went to training camp with the New York Giants (1992) and San Francisco 49ers (1993), and played for the Sacramento Goldminers in the CFL (1993-1994). He later pursued a career as a regional sales manager for All American Homes in Decatur, Indiana, and Heckaman Homes in Nappanee, Indiana.

Bob accomplished more in a short time he had here on earth than most do in a lifetime, but his true and most loved accomplishment of all was having his son Mitch, who he loved more than anything. Bob was loved and will be dearly missed by so many and will never be forgotten.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
