Saturday will be busy at the Limberlost.

Limberlost State Historic Site in Geneva has a pair of events scheduled for Saturday, with a wildflower safari from 10 a.m. to noon and “A Literary Visit from Gene Stratton-Porter” at 5 p.m.

The wildflower safari will feature a stroll with a naturalist through the Loblolly Marsh Nature Preserve to discover what wildflowers are blooming. Participants will also learn about how humans and animals use various plants.

The cost of the safari is $.375 for members and $5 for non-members. Attendees should meet at the Loblolly parking lot, 8323 N. 250 West, Bryant.

The “visit” from Gene Stratton-Porter will follow at 5 p.m. at Limberlost State Historic Site, 200 E. 6th St., Geneva, with historian and performer Glory-June Greiff. She will portray Stratton-Porter, the author and naturalist who explored the Limberlost and used it as the setting for two of her novels, speaking from the front porch of her former home. Greiff will also perform readings from Stratton-Porter’s poetry and essays.

The program is free and recommended for those 12 and older.

Participants should bring face masks for both events.
