COLDWATER, Ohio — Ellie Will was third and Brynn Stammen finished seventh as the Fort Recovery High School girls cross country team took fourth out of five teams in the Coldwater Mini-Midwest Athletic Conference meet Saturday.
Versailles placed three in the top 10 to win with 43 points, seven ahead of runner-up Anna.
New Bremen totaled 56 points for fourth, while Fort Recovery scored 62 points.
Anna won the boys race with 28 points. Versailles (50) placed second and New Bremen (80) was third. Fort Recovery had 119 points for fifth.
Will ended in 21 minutes, 14.64 seconds, and Stammen had a time of 21:31.89. Jenna Hart (22:15.65) was 15th, Megan Diller (22:16.42) finished 16th and Hanna Metzger (22:24.81) placed 19th.
Trevor Heitkamp was the lead FRHS boy as he placed sixth in 18:13.65. Connor Gower crossed the finish line 25th in 19:52.93. Luke Keller (20:41.18) ended 34th, Ethan Evers (21:08.64) placed 42nd and Caleb Rammel (21:14.62) was 45th.
Girls come up short
Fort Recovery’s girls golf team came up just short of a Midwest Athletic Conference win Monday, falling to the Versailles Tigers 186-188 at Portland Golf Club.
Jalyn Bruns of FRHS shot 4-over-par 39 to earn match medalist for the Indians, who dipped to 4-3 in MAC play with their third consecutive conference loss.
Shelby Stammen was second for the Indians with her round of 47, and Alli Vaughn shot 50 for the Tribe’s third-best score. Kendra Dues completed the team score with 52.
Trisha Gaerke (57) and Paige Bihn (58) also competed but they did not factor into the Tribe’s total.
FR boys fall
BRADFORD, Ohio — The Fort Recovery boys golf team fell to the host Versailles Tigers, 173-185, on Monday at Stillwater Valley Golf Club
Carson Rammel and Isaac LeFevre both shot 45 to lead the Indians (4-7, 3-5 Midwest Athletic Conference). Cole Muhlenkamp was one stroke behind, and Carson Siefring completed the overall total by shooting 49.
Zander Kunkler and Derek Lochtefeld also competed, but their scores of 51 and 52, respectively, did not contribute to the team score.
FRMS girls third

The Indians were one point behind runner-up New Bremen and a distant third to Versailles’ near-perfect championship score of 18 points.
Versailles also won the boys race with 21 points. Coldwater was second with 58 points, and Anna ended third with 60 points. The Indians scored 119 points for fifth.
Joelle Kaup led the Tribe girls by finishing fourth in 13:23.69. Maddie Heitkamp, Maddy Weitzel and Aubrie Heitkamp were 19th through 21st, respectively. Saidy Deroo ended in 30th.
Evan Evers was the top FRMS boy as he was 13th in 13:14. Eli Lennartz (15th), Matthew Marchal (36th), Drew Backs (44th) and Caden Marchal (49th) also scored for the Indians.
