Ruth Ann Straw
Oct. 2, 1949-Sept. 16, 2020
Ruth Ann Straw, 70, formerly of Redkey, Indiana, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2020, while in the company of family members at Persimmon Ridge Nursing Home in Portland, Indiana.
Ruth was born in Ohio, on Oct. 2, 1949, daughter to the late Orvis Marks and Helen Fay (Ervin) Rigby. She was a graduate of Knightstown Children’s Home and had learned to overcome in the face of adversity throughout her life.
Ruth was a “social butterfly” who loved a many great deal of things such as ceramics, bingo, movies, bowling, animals, playing with kids, country music and collecting stuffed animals. Despite her lovable nature, she could still be ornery from time to time.
Ruth is survived by her sister Diana Fulk; brother Raymond Baker (wife: Kathie); her daughters Lavern Worley (husband: Larry) and Elizabeth Hunter (husband: Brian); son Frank K. Norris (wife: Carol); 11 grandchildren; 13 plus great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call Monday, Sept. 21, 2020, from noon to 1 p.m. at MJS Mortuaries – Redkey Chapel. Funeral Services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Joe Hines officiating. Burial will follow in Bluffpoint Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Dunkirk Optimist Club.
Please be assured that for your health and safety, all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, government and local health department recommendations and guidelines are followed (facility maximum of people at one time up to social distancing allowance for square footage, masks are to be worn while in attendance, and hand sanitizer will be available. Extra cleaning and disinfecting measures have been taken).
