Local residents will have the opportunity to give blood Saturday.
The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Portland Fire Department, 1616 N. Franklin St. Those interested in giving blood should make an appointment via the Red Cross app, at redcrossblood.org or by calling (800) 733-2767.
In addition to the drive at Portland Fire Department, there will be a drive from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, 215 E. Dustman Road, Bluffton.
Programs available
The Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Indiana is offering educational programs and caregiver support groups online and by phone.
Programs this month include effective communication and warning signs of Alzheimer’s Disease scheduled for today and help with understanding and dealing with dementia scheduled for next Tuesday. All programs are free.

LifeStream has launched its Friendly Caller Program for older adults who are experiencing loneliness and isolation during the coronavirus pandemic.
Volunteers are matched with older adults to provide conversation. Those interested in volunteering can visit lifestreaminc.org/support/volunteer.
Older adults who are interested in receiving calls can sign up by calling (800) 589-1121.
