Obituary
Frederick J. Jackson, age 75, of Portland passed away on Monday, Sept. 21, 2020, in Reid Hospital in Richmond.
He was born in Vincennes on Dec. 18, 1944, the son of George and Dorothy (Farmer) Jackson. He was married on Feb. 8, 1964, to Virginia Carrie who survives.
Fred had worked for Glover Shoe Store for 16 years and retired from Levy Books. He had also worked for Sears, Jay Petroleum and JCI.
Fred and Virginia were foster parents for over 40 years. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Holy Name Society.
Surviving are his wife Virginia; four sons, Monte Jackson (wife: Angela) of Greentown, Travis Jackson (wife: Kathy) of Pueblo, Colorado, Chad Jackson of Portland and Chris Jackson (wife: Ashley) of Portland; one daughter, Krystal Bell (husband: Jerry Jr.) of Portland; one brother, Ted Jackson of Anaheim, California; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene and Don Jackson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, Sept. 28, 2020, at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Fr. Peter Logsdon presiding. Burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery. Visitation will be in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Monday. Memorials can be made to the Jay County Cancer Society.
