Scout event is Wednesday

Kids can take the first step to learn outdoor-related skills Wednesday.
Cub Scout and Scout BSA Troop 202 of Portland will host their call-out meeting to prospective scouts at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Hudson Family Park, 509 S. Wayne St., Portland.
Children from kindergarten age to 17 years old can join Cub Scouts or Scout BSA depending on their age.
Scouts learn various skills to earn merit badges and camp regularly.
Drive scheduled
The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Portland Fire Department, 1616 N. Franklin St.
Those interested in giving blood should make an appointment via the Red Cross app, at redcrossblood.org or by calling 800-733-2767.
In addition to the drive at Portland Fire Department, there will be a drive from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, 215 E. Dustman Road, Bluffton.
