Next weekend will provide a chance to get closer to nature.
Limberlost State Historic Site will offer a guided tour of Rainbow Bottom at 9 a.m. Oct. 3.
Participants will join a naturalist for a hike through Rainbow Bend Park, which is in the area known to naturalist Gene Stratton-Porter as Rainbow Bottom and the setting for two of her novels. They will learn about plants, wildlife and the significance of the area to settlers and Native Americans.
Admission is $3.75 for members and $5 for non-members. The hike will cover 1.5 miles and the event is expected to last about three hours. Attendees are asked to bring a mask.
