Obituary
John P. Meehan, age 61, of rural Portland passed away Saturday, Sept. 26, 2020, at IU Health Jay.
He was born in Decatur on Feb. 24, 1959, the son of George and Deloris (Butcher) Meehan. He was married on Nov. 21, 1981, to Janie Castillo, who survives.
John had worked at Teledyne Portland Forge and Red Gold. He was a 1977 Jay County High School graduate and member of Portland Eagles Lodge and Ridgeville American Legion. He was an avid motorcyclist and enjoyed riding with his friends.
Surviving are his wife Janie; two daughters, Carrie Ulmer (husband: Travis) of Woodburn, Indiana, and Olivia Meehan of Columbus, Ohio; two grandchildren, Grant and Brooklyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Rosalind McAfee.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2020, at 6 p.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Lawndale Cemetery in Ridgeville. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 to 6 p.m.
Memorials can be made to the choice of the donor.
