Obituary
Martin D. Shaneyfelt, 86, passed away on Friday, Sept. 18, 2020, in Marion.
He was born on June 3, 1934, in Portland, to the late Orville and Martha K. (Stump) Shaneyfelt.
Martin was an Army veteran who proudly served his country from 1957 to 1967. He was a mechanic and a wrecker driver in Kissimmee, Florida, for several years before retiring. Martin was a member of the American Legion and a member of Landmark Baptist Church in Haines City, Florida.
Martin loved horses and enjoyed working on cars. He loved to talk and was a perfectionist. He was mostly a serious man but could be a funny guy at times.
Martin is survived by his children, David (Michelle) Shaneyfelt, Orestes, Deborah E. (Scott) Burris, Middletown, and Trease (Ed) Mader, Portland, Maine; sister Alice Roberts, Winchester; brothers Mark (Sharon) Shaneyfelt, Portland, and Paul (Leota "Lee") Shaneyfelt, Portland; sisters-in-law Shirley Long, Dunkirk, and Nancy Hamilton, Dunkirk; brother-in-law Don Wilson; daughter-in-law Debra Wombles; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna L. (Hamilton) Shaneyfelt; second wife Marilyn (Jackson) Shaneyfelt; parents Orville and Martha K. (Stump) Shaneyfelt; son Michael Shaneyfelt; great-grandchild Jessie Shaneyfelt; brother Henry Lee Shaneyfelt; sister Roberta Wilson; mother and father-in-law Jessie and Viola Hamilton; sister-in-law Marsha Evers; and brothers-in-law Ed Hamilton and Eugene Roberts.
Arrangements for Martin have been entrusted to College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 S. Western Ave., Marion, Indiana, where on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2020, there will be a visitation from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. with burial immediately following at Marion National Cemetery with Military Honors.
