A busy month of activities is scheduled at Cornerstone Center for the Arts.
The Muncie arts center will host a variety of classes and workshops in October, including the “Movement in Nature Tap Dance Workshop” at 2 p.m. Saturday.
The tap dance workshop will feature teaching artist Jara Rowe.
Also Saturday, artist Piet Mondrien will lead a session of the “Learning from the Masters” series at 3 p.m. The series will continue with sessions at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 10 and 3 p.m. Oct. 17.
Other events at Cornerstone in October include:
Adventure for a Day — Children will explore arts from the perspective of a pirate (9:30 a.m. Oct. 10) and a zombie (9:30 a.m. Oct. 17).
En Plein Air — Painters workshop at 10 a.m. Oct. 10.
Singing for the Actor — Virtual singing class at 3 p.m. Oct. 11
Acting for the Camera — Virtual acting lessons at 3 p.m. Oct. 25
Burlesque: Behind the Curtain — Costume sewing lessons at 10 a.m. Oct. 17

Bruns inducted
Lauren Bruns of Fort Recovery was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.
Bruns, a student at the University of Findlay, is among the about 30,000 who are initiated each year into the collegiate honor society. The organization was founded in 1897 to “recognize and promote academic excellence in all fields of higher education and to engage the community of scholars in service to others.”
In order to be eligible, a student must rank in the top 7.5 percent of their junior class or top 10 percent of their senior class. Membership is by invitation only.
Volunteers needed
LifeStream has launched its Friendly Caller Program for older adults who are experiencing loneliness and isolation during the coronavirus pandemic.
Volunteers are matched with older adults to provide conversation. Those interested in volunteering can visit lifestreaminc.org/support/volunteer.
