CELINA, Ohio — Just three days after making one piece of history, the Indians did it again.

Fort Recovery High School’s girls golf team took third in the Division II Northwest District sectional tournament Monday at Celina Lynx Golf Club, earning a berth in the district tournament for the first time in program history.

This accomplishment comes after the Indians were third in the Midwest Athletic Conference on Saturday for the team’s best conference finish.

Coldwater shot 358 to win the sectional tournament, which had 12 scoring teams. St. Henry was runner-up with 372, and Fort Recovery shot 391 for its historic performance.

The top three teams and top three individuals not on qualifying teams advance to the district tournament, which is slated for Monday at Sycamore Springs Golf Course in Findlay.

FRHS junior Jalyn Bruns shot 84, good enough for third overall, to lead the Indians. Shelby Stammen carded 91 for seventh overall, and Alli Vaughn finished in a four-way tie for 30th with her score of 106. Kendra Dues (36th) completed the Tribe team score with her round of 110.

Trisha Gaerke also competed and finished with 112 for 39th.

Lincolnview freshman Zoey Tracy (90) and her senior teammate Winter Boroff (92) as well as Minster freshman Ashley Meyer (92) earned the three individual district qualifying spots.
