It’s time to sign up for art classes.
Registration is underway for the fall semester of ArtWorks classes at the Jay County Campus of Arts Place in Portland and Blackford County Arts Center in Hartford City.
Classes at the Jay County campus include ceramics, toddler art, moving, singing, dancing for toddlers and loom weaving. They are scheduled to begin during the second week of September.
The fall semester kicks off Aug. 30 in Blackford County with oil painting. Other classes planned for the second Saturday of each month through December include needle-felting, mixed media portrait, painting on a ceramic tile and free take-it and make-it activities.

Applications open
Applications are open for the 2022 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship through The Portland Foundation.
The scholarship program provides tuition to any Indiana college as well as fees and books. It is presented to one student in Jay County.
In order to be eligible, a student must:
•Be a Jay County resident who will graduate in 2022 from an Indiana high school.
•Have been accepted to pursue a full-time baccalaureate course of study
•Have a minimum 3.5 grade point average
Applicants will be scored on academics, financial need, activities and a written essay.
Applications are available at portlandfoundation.org. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Sept. 2.

Classes range from visual art and dance to martial arts and fitness. Because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, space is limited and masks are required for all guests.
