Obituary
Danny E. Sharpe, 79, of Redkey, Indiana, passed away Saturday, Aug. 14, 2021, at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana.
Danny was born in Redkey, Indiana, on Nov. 19, 1941, a son of the late Robert L. and Anna M. (Nelson) Sharpe. He was a 1959 graduate of Redkey High School and was formerly employed by Indiana Glass and several Muncie Lumber Yards. Danny served in the United States Army, was an avid bowler and enjoyed fishing, hunting, Indiana University basketball, mushroom hunting, sunbathing and spending time on his pontoon.
He is survived by one sister, Janet Velick; three children, Danette Hamilton (Donald), Daniel Sharpe (Sheryl) and Debra Bailey; eight grandchildren, Matthew Hamilton, Mark Hamilton (Kylie), Luke Hamilton (Kodi), Benjamin Sharpe (Ashlen), Ethan Sharpe (Diana), Chastity Bland (Robert), Misty Kabrich and David Bailey; several great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one niece, Lu Verner (Ron).
Danny was preceded in death by his parents; ex-wife Jannett Sharpe; daughter Karla Pryor; son Thelmer Sisco; and nephew David Teater.
Friends are invited to call Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2021, from 10 a.m. to noon at MJS Mortuaries – Redkey Chapel. Funeral services will follow at noon with Pastor Chris Nelson officiating. Burial will be held in Hillcrest Cemetery in Redkey, Indiana, immediately following the service with military honors provided by the Dunkirk American Legion and VFW Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Jay County Cancer Society.
