Barbara Landers

Barbara A. Landers, age 73, of rural Portland passed away Monday, Aug. 16, 2021, at IU Health Jay in Portland.

She was born on Aug. 6, 1948, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, the daughter of Orville and Grace Marie (Roysden) Short. She was married on Oct. 29, 1966, to Lester J. Landers who survives.

She had worked for Kerr Glass and H&R Block for 15 years. She had attended New Covenant Church and was a graduate of York Institute in Jamestown, Tennessee.

Surviving are her husband Lester; one son, James M. Landers of Portland; one brother, Ed Mackey of Muncie; one sister, Bonnie Mace of Muncie; and two grandchildren, Chelsea Barker of Florida and Jordan Steed of Portland.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Marie Steed; brother Carl Wayne; and sister Louise Garrison.

Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 20, 2021, at 5 p.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Chuck Myers presiding. Visitation will be Friday from 3 to 5 p.m.
