Obituary
Tim DeVoss, age 68, a resident of rural Portland, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2021, at his home.
Tim was born on Sept. 12, 1952, in Muncie, Indiana, the son of Jim and Norma (Philebaum) DeVoss. He graduated from Redkey High School in 1970. Tim married Charlotte Shaver on June 30, 1973. He worked for Marsh and Ludwig Grocery Stores in Portland and later worked for the Jay Community Center and retired from Jay School Corporation.
Tim was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Portland, Eagles Lodge of Portland and American Legion Post 507 in Ridgeville. Tim was a proud supporter of the Portland Rockets and enjoyed playing softball.
Survivors include:
His wife of 48 years — Charlotte Shaver, Portland, Indiana
One daughter — Angie Waters (husband: Mitch), Hartford City, Indiana
One son — Brian DeVoss (wife: Amy), Portland, Indiana
Two brothers — Gary DeVoss (wife: Kay), Redkey, Indiana, and Larry DeVoss (wife: Jane), Franklin, Indiana
Seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Services to celebrate Tim’s life will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Hugh Kelly will officiate the service and burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, north of Muncie.
Memorials may be directed towards Fellowship Baptist Church or The Portland Rockets.
