Kathleen Kay Christie, known by many as “KK,” 78, of Dunkirk, Indiana, passed away early Thursday morning, Aug. 26, 2021, at Albany Health and Rehabilitation Center of Albany, Indiana.
She was born Feb. 18, 1943, in Portland, Indiana, the daughter of Kenneth and Mary Jane (Smith) Staton. She was a 1960 graduate of Williamstown High School of Williamstown, West Virginia.
She was the owner/operator of Christie’s Family Restaurant for 19 years, retiring in 2012. She had a true gift for cooking. She enjoyed watching Steve Harvey game shows and loved sudoku.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Steven Lee Christie (wife: Miriam) of Simpsonville, South Carolina, and Kevin Lee Christie of Dunkirk, Indiana; two brothers, James Staton (wife: Janet) of Parkersburg, West Virginia, and Thomas Staton (fiancé: Cindy Welch) of Pennville, Indiana; a sister, Carolyn Otto (husband: Dennis) of Pennville, Indiana; three grandchildren, Jason, Zachary and Dylan Christie; two great-grandchildren, Parker and Sophia; a sister-in-law, Debra Staton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a loving husband, Franklin; and a brother, Richard Staton.
A private service will be held at Wilson Shook Funeral Home, Dunkirk Memorial Chapel of Dunkirk, Indiana. Burial will be in Dunkirk IOOF Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours.
