Jay County High School’s girls swim team opened its dual season with a victory while the Patriot boys got left in the wake against the Bluffton Tigers on Tuesday.
The girls topped the Tigers 194-87, and the boys fell 212-76.
Elayna Paro and Mara Bader had two individual victories. Paro was first in the 200-yard individual medley in 2 minutes, 44.86 seconds, and won the 100 breaststroke in 1:23.73. Bader’s wins came in the 50 freestyle (26.83 seconds) and the 100 butterfly (1:05.6).
Along with Morgan DeHoff and Emily Dues, Bader and Paro aided the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays in finishing first with times of 2:09.21 and 1:56.7, respectively.
Freshman Maddy Snow scored 185.15 points to win diving for her first career event victory.
For the JCHS boys, Kyle Sanders and Josh Monroe each had one win and helped a first-place relay. Sanders had a time of 23.53 seconds to beat the field in the 50 freestyle, while Monroe’s time of 1:13.23 was best in the 100 breaststroke.
Konner Sommers, Wyatt Kunkler, Sanders and Monroe teamed to win the 200 medley relay in 1:56.58.
