Jay Co. meets Jets

The Patriots open tournament play with the Jets.

The Allen County Athletic Conference held its basketball tournament draw this morning, and the Patriots — the boys and girls draws are the same — received a matchup with Adams Central.

First-round games are slated for Jan. 11. Adams Central will host Jay County, with the winner advancing to the Jan. 14 semifinal against Southern Wells.

Other Jan. 11 matchups have Heritage hosting Bluffton and Woodlan hosting South Adams. Winners of those contests advance to the Jan. 14 semifinal.

All girls games will be played at 6 p.m. with the boys contests to follow. The host sites for the second round will be determined by the boys tournament.

Championship games are set for Jan. 15 at South Adams. The girls final will begin at 6 p.m., and the boys championship will be at 8 p.m.

Jay County’s girls won last year’s tournament title, and the South Adams boys are defending champions.

The JCHS boys did not participate in last year’s tournament because of COVID-19 quarantine.
