Bradley to retire at the end of the year
Business roundup
A former Jay County official is ready to retire.
Bill Bradley, who served as executive director of Jay County Development Corporation for 12 years, has announced he will retire at the end of the year. He has served as CEO of LaGrange County Economic Development Corporation since leaving Jay County in 2018.
Bradley is a member of the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership and Northeast Indiana Works boards of directors.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors of the LaGrange County Economic Development Corporation, I want to thank Bill for his service to the organization and the community,” said LaGrange County Economic Development Corporation board chair Mark Eagleson. “We wish him all the best in his retirement.”
Bradley said he plans to remain in the LaGrange County area.
Klatsch canceled
An annual holiday event has been canceled because of COVID-19.
Graphic Printing Co. president Jack Ronald said Friday that because of Jay County’s disturbingly low vaccination rate and current “orange” status the company’s annual Koffee Klatsch won’t be happening in 2021.
The holiday event — a morning of coffee and donuts for the local business community — dates back more than 60 years. It was also canceled due to COVID-19 in 2020.
Over the years, the event has been held at a variety of locations, including the Home Café, the Quaker Trace, the Portland Elks Lodge and Jay Community Center. In recent years, it’s been held at Arts Place.
“Our hope is we can all get together for some holiday cheer in 2022,” Ronald said.
Cutting set
Jay County Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony today for Midwest Pet Refuge for its new location.
The ribbon cutting is set for noon today. Midwest Pet Refuge is now located at 601 N. Charles St., Portland.
Companies merge
Jet Access and Eagle Creek Aviation of Indiana have merged to create a national private aviation hub.
The company, to be known as Jet Access, will be the 12th-largest private jet operator in the country.
It took over operations at Indianapolis Regional Airport earlier this year and now oversees 10 facilities.
“The combination of our two companies, and more importantly the incredibly talented people that make them great, will create enormous opportunity within the marketplace to innovate, create jobs and bring value to our current and future customers all while making Indianapolis a national private aviation hub,” said Jet Access president and CEO Quinn Ricker in a press release.
