Ronald Penrod

Ronald Penrod, age 81, a resident of Muncie and a former Portland resident, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2021, at Westminster Village in Muncie. He graduated from Jackson School in Wells County in 1958. He was sales manager for Prudential Insurance Co. in Fort Wayne and Portland. He also worked for Lincoln National Financial Services in Muncie, retiring in 2002 after 36 years in the insurance business. After retirement, he and his wife traveled in their motorhome, spending 15 winters in Florida.

Ron Penrod was born April 14, 1940, in Auburn, Indiana, the son of Virgil and Lula (Smith) Penrod.

He was married on July 16, 1960, to Janet Carsten. She passed away on Sept. 13, 2019.

Survivors include:

One son — Todd Penrod (wife: Joni), Portland

One daughter — Christie Prosser (husband: Mark) New Palestine, Indiana

Four grandchildren — Rob Penrod (wife: Lexie), Jason Penrod (wife: Kyla), Megan Siergiej (husband: Mathew) and Katie Prosser (companion: Andrew Fleenor)

Five great-grandchildren — Jacoby, Carsten, Kenna, Lennox and Jackson.

He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Kenzi Penrod.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, 2021, in the Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will immediately follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Gil Alicea will officiate the services and private burial will take place in Bluff Point Cemetery at a later date.

Family requests memorials be directed to the Animal Rescue Fund (ARF) in Muncie.
