Obituary
Irwin Paul Bailey, age 75, a resident of Portland, passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at his home in Portland.
Irwin was born on May 28, 1946, in Jay County, Indiana, the son of Clarence and Thelma (Milligan) Bailey. Irwin attended Bryant High School and graduated from Portland High School. Irwin worked at Portland Forge for 44 years. Irwin was a member of New Covenant Fellowship Church where he served as worship leader for many years. He married Cheryl Lynn Strable on October 1, 1972.
Survivors include:
His wife of 49 years: Cheryl Lynn Bailey, Portland, Indiana
Three sons: Clayton Bailey, Portland, Indiana; Douglas Loren Bailey (wife Shawna), Ossian, Indiana; David Paul Bailey, San Diego, California
Grandchildren: Briana, Christopher, Mercedes, Alexis, Madeline, Mariah, Jaycee, Sean and Cooper Bailey
He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Thelma Bailey, and a sister Mary Lu Bye.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 12-2 p.m. at New Covenant Fellowship Church, 1238 W. 450 S., Portland, Indiana 47371. Services to celebrate Irwin’s life will follow at 2 p.m. on Monday at the church. Burial will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery, west of Bryant.
Memorials may be directed towards New Covenant Fellowship Church or missionary Jessica Tomlinson through New Covenant Fellowship Church.
Arrangements are entrusted to Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland.
