FORT RECOVERY — Greg LeFevre’s time on the board is over.
Fort Recovery School Board recognized LeFevre during its Monday meeting.
LeFevre has served on the board for four years. His position will be filled by Sean Kahlig beginning Jan. 1.
“Thank you, everybody,” he said. “The school is in very, very good hands, I’m very happy with where it’s at.”
“It’s kind of a bittersweet end,” said superintendent Larry Brown. “We certainly appreciate the service to the district, the students, the staff of Fort Recovery Local Schools.”
Board members awarded the outgoing member with a glass plaque.
In other news, board members:
•Agreed to hold its organizational meeting at 6 p.m. Jan. 10 and elected Nick Wehrkamp as president pro-tem for that session.
•Approved senior Henry Knapke for graduation effective Jan. 7.
•Heard from high school principal Tony Stahl that students raised about $4,000 through the Adopt-A-Family program to spend on eight families in the community.
•Hired or renewed contracts with substitutes Sarah Nearon and Emily Fortener, track coach Christy Diller, assistant track coaches Charles Vasay and Shane Stein, junior high track coach Kim Niekamp, junior high assistant track coach Bob Heitkamp and volunteer baseball coach Ben Will.
•Heard from fifth grade language arts teacher Jessica Niekamp about how the school identifies at risk students.
•Approved a $300,000 transfer to cover the cost of a new chiller at Fort Recovery Elementary/Middle School.
•Renewed membership with the Ohio School Boards Association for $3,783.
•Accepted various donations, including $1,500 from Roessner Fabrication LLC for preschool and $1,000 from Fort Recovery Community Foundation for Adopt-A-Family.
•OK’d the 2022-23 calendar. Students will begin school Aug. 24, and their last day will be May 25.
