Viola Sells
Obituary
Viola J. Sells, 93, of Ridgeville, Indiana, passed away peacefully Friday, Dec. 17, 2021, while in the company of family members at Cardinal Care Strategies, in Muncie, Indiana.
Viola was born in Muncie, Indiana, on Oct. 25, 1928, a daughter of the late Thaddora F. (Alberson) and Eugene M. Thomas. She was a 1946 graduate of Cowan High School and retired from Cox Manufacturing in 1993 as the group leader in the fabrication department.
Viola was a dedicated member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Ridgeville, Indiana, where she sang in the church choir, helped with church activities, loved traditional hymns and reaching out to others in their time of trouble with pure love. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, traveling, crocheting, cooking, canning, visiting with family, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Viola is survived by three sons, J.C. Landon (wife: Susie), David E. Sells (wife: Glynda) and John A. Sells (wife: Tammy); one daughter, Nancy J. Hersberger (husband: Dave); two brothers, Harry Thomas (wife: Kay) and Bruce Thomas (wife: Judy); one sister, Lois Austin; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Chester L. Sells and Lonald B. Sells; one daughter, Betty J. Hall (husband: Michael); five brothers; and two sisters.
Friends are invited to call Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2021, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church in Ridgeville, Indiana. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Lori McIntosh officiating. Burial will be held in Lawndale Cemetery in Ridgeville, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church in Ridgeville, Indiana.
