Churches holding special services
Taking Note
Multiple churches are holding special services this week.
West Walnut Church of Christ will hold a special Christmas Eve service at 8 p.m. Friday. The church is located at 204 W. Walnut St., Portland.
First Church of Christ in Fort Recovery will be holding its Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m. Friday.
Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church will host its Christmas service starting with music at 8 p.m. and a candle-lit service at 8:30 p.m. Friday.
Christmas at library
Jay County Public Library has a few more holiday events planned for December:
•Jungle Cruise showing 6 p.m. Dec. 27 — Refreshments will be provided.
•Teen Mario Kart Switch Party 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 28 — Ready your drifting skills. Teenagers are invited to a gaming competition on Mario Kart 8 for Nintendo Switch.
•Gingerbread Man Scavenger Hunt through Dec. 30 — Visit the front desk to start a scavenger hunt through the library for a Gingerbread Man. Participants can bring completed scavenger hunt maps back to the front desk for a prize.
Tree festival open
Festival of the Trees is back.
The event is ongoing until Dec. 31 at Fort Recovery Public Library during regular business hours. Trees have been decorated by local businesses, organizations, families and individuals.
Visitors may vote for their favorite tree, and the display with the most votes will receive the title of 2021 People’s Choice Award. The display is free and open to the public.
