Nola Lanning

Nola Lanning, age 86, passed away peacefully at her rural Portland home on Monday, Dec. 27, 2021.
She and her husband farmed in Pike Township for many years. She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Portland.
Nola Lanning was born June 4, 1935, in West Manchester, Ohio, the daughter of Ralph and Ruby Middleton. She was married to Bob Lanning on April 16, 1952. They renewed their marriage vows in 2002 to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.
Nola willingly embraced God’s call on her life. She was a virtuous wife, a sacrificing mother and a loving grandmother. Her greatest desire was to see all of her children in the “Ark of safety,” as she would say,as she prayed for each of her family members.
Survivors include:
Her beloved husband of 69 years — Bob Lanning, Portland
Son — Larry Lanning, Portland
Three daughters — Carol Limbert, Portland, Geraldine Robbins (husband: Wendell), Portland, and Tammy Koppelman (husband: Ron), Bluffton
Brother — Gary Middleton (wife: Judy), Ansonia, Ohio
Ten grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Lanning; a son-in-law, Chris Limbert; a grandson, Mike Limbert; and a brother, Ralph Middleton.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Please join us to celebrate her life. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Services to celebrate the life of Nola Lanning will immediately follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Hugh Kelly will officiate the services and burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery southeast of Portland.
