Obituary
Maurice W. Alsip, age 72, of Portland passed away Sunday, Feb. 14, 2021, in IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Keno, Kentucky, on Jan. 6, 1949, the son of Wiley and Frona (Young) Alsip. He was an antique dealer, member of the Moose Lodge and 1968 Portland High School graduate.
Surviving are one son, Chad Alsip (wife: Misty) of Redkey; one daughter, Ginger Upchurch (husband: Brian) of Greenfield, Indiana; three brothers, Bill Alsip of Albany, Doug Alsip of Yorktown and Randall Alsip of Livingston, Tennessee; one sister, Vivian Drake of Albany; six grandchildren, Payton Upchurch, Paige Alsip, Brook Pridgen, Grant Alsip, Brittney Upchurch and Larkin Alsip; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jay Alsip; and sister Carolyn Caroll.
Memorial services will be Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021, at 11 a.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Carl Stone presiding. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m.
