Obituary
Donald L. Guntle, age 84, of Portland passed away Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
Donald was born in Jay County on Aug. 2, 1936, the son of Earl and Ethel Marie (Landers) Guntle. He was married on May 28, 1955, to Eileen Minnich who survives.
He was retired from Teledyne Portland Forge and served with the U.S. Army. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife Eileen; four sons, Rick Guntle (wife: Dawn) of Portland, Mike Guntle of Fort Wayne, Steve Guntle (wife: Liz) of Selma and Greg Guntle (wife: Carla) of Brownsburg, Indiana; one daughter, Deb Moores (husband: Tim) of Greens Fork, Indiana; three brothers, Bob Guntle (wife: Janet) of Portland, Jerry Guntle of Geneva and Charles Guntle of Berne; 18 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021, at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Fr. Peter Logsdon presiding. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Bryant. Visitation will be Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home.
