Obituary

Steven Ray Buckingham, age 69, of Geneva passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at Visiting Nurse Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.

He was born in Adams County on Aug. 31, 1951, the son of Earl Buckingham and Alice Mathys Long. He was married Dec. 23, 1978, to Cheryl Keen, who survives.

Steve was a 1969 South Adams High School graduate and retired from Fort Recovery Industries. He enjoyed traveling, hiking, fishing, history, politics, music and most of all family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife Cheryl; his children Derek Buckingham (wife: Lisa) of Huntertown, Sherie Miller (husband: Josh) of Portland, Beth Buck (husband: Dee) of Portland and Todd Brinkerhoff, who preceded him in death; siblings Jerry Buckingham (wife: Teresa) of Michigan, Joyce Stookey of Geneva, Donna Morse (husband: David) of Lafayette, Marlene Ellis (husband: Bill) of Berne and Larry Buckingham, who preceded him in death; grandchildren Jonathan Overmyer (wife: Whitney) of Redkey, Dylan Baughman of Portland, Nathanael Miller of Portland, Ellie Buckingham, Gabriel Buckingham and Olivia Buckingham, all of Fort Wayne; one great-grandson, Milo Overmyer of Redkey; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Buckingham and Alice Long.

Funeral services will be Monday, July 5, 2021, at 3 p.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Smith presiding. Burial will follow in the West Lawn Cemetery in Geneva. Visitation will be Monday from noon to 3 p.m.
