Obituary
Carroll “Buck” Clevenger, 84, Dunkirk, passed suddenly Thursday, July 1, 2021, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie.
He was born June 2, 1937, the youngest of nine children, to Milford and Fannie (Bird) Clevenger. Carroll was a 1955 graduate of Dunkirk High School before enlisting in the U.S. Army. As an active duty service member, Carroll was stationed overseas in Germany and traveled throughout Europe.
On July 31, 1965, he married Linda (Duffy) Clevenger at St. Mary Catholic Church, Dunkirk. Carroll and Linda enjoyed 55 years of marriage as residents of Dunkirk.
Carroll retired from Ball Foster (now Ardagh), Dunkirk, in 1999 after working there 34 years. He was a member of GMP Local 96. Carroll’s first love was his family, but he was always happy to talk about cars, the American West and music.
Survivors include his wife, Linda K. Clevenger; brother-in-law Lynn Duffy; sister-in-law Rose Duffy; daughter Terri Clevenger; daughter Cynthia Clevenger; and grandson Evan Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Donald, Ferrell, Robert, Blaine “Gus” and Harold; three sisters, Reva Clevenger, Dorthea (Clevenger) Campbell and Betty (Clevenger) Ross; brother-in-law David Duffy; and sister-in-law Linda Duffy.
Though Carroll will be deeply missed by family and friends, in accordance with his wishes, there will be no visitation and graveside services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions honoring Carroll’s memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
