July will be full of cheers, stories and fun with dogs.
Jay County Public Library is hosting a variety of activities this month, including several “brainstormers and explorers” story time sessions.
The next story time is slated for 10 a.m. Friday with a “let’s all cheer for basketball” theme in collaboration with Jay County High School basketball players and cheerleaders.
There will also be a story time session at 10 a.m. July 16 in the Farmer’s Building at the library as part of the Jay County Fair.
The library will also host a session about ponies and horses from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday in the facility’s parking lot. Participants will learn about petting and brushing horses and other horse care.
There will also be a Summit City Disc Dog demonstration at 10 a.m. July 17 and an American Red Cross blood drive from 1 to 7 p.m. July 22.
Concerts continue
The Dunkirk Webster Depot Park Concert Series resumes Saturday with a performance by Harmony Quartet. The group counts The Statler Brothers, Oak Ridge Boys and The Beach Boys among its influences.
The concert series continues at 7 p.m. each Saturday through the first weekend of August with the exception of July 3. The schedule is as follows:
July 17 — John Beatrice Band
July 24 — Boot Hill Band
July 31 — Jay Foxx Band
Aug. 7 — Spittin’ Image
The concert series is presented by Dunkirk Beautification Committee.
