Neesha Anderson had worked at Portland’s U.S. Post Office for 14 years, and with last year’s retirement came a yearning for a new journey.
“I want something I can do on my own,” Anderson thought to herself. “I want my own business.”
While combing through ideas online, Anderson came across something that caught her attention: cryotherapy.
She and her husband, Zeb, decided to invest in a cryotherapy machine.
While getting an adjustment from Dr. Oakland Gaerke at Clear Choice Chiropractic, Anderson mentioned her recent purchase. Soon after, Anderson was setting up shop in the office at Clear’s 406 W. Votaw St. office.
Their business, Cryo Beauty & Wellness, had its grand opening last month.
“It just happened so fast … Dr. Gaerke’s pretty awesome,” said Anderson. “I don’t know who else in the world would give someone a chance like he’s given me.”
Cryo Beauty and Wellness offers a variety of services, such as “fat freezing” (cryolipolysis), cellulite reduction, skin tightening, hair rejuvenation and tattoo brightening. It offers facials for acne and wrinkle reduction and treatments to alleviate skin issues such as psoriasis, eczema and scarring. Clients can also seek pain management for swelling, irritation and conditions such as tendonitis.
“We can do any of that,” said Anderson. “I just really enjoy helping people get the results they want.”
Anderson uses the KaasenLife machine from TruCryo, which sent a trainer to teach her how to use it before she received her certification to perform cryotherapy.
The KaasenLife machines can also be used to treat large animals, such as pigs, cows or horses.
The cryotherapy machine runs on carbon dioxide, which goes through a hose before coming through the handheld machine’s nozzle Anderson uses to spray the desired area. Pressurized nozzles are used based on the procedure being performed.
Cryo Beauty & Wellness recently added a NormaTec full body compression suit for circulatory or lymphatic issues, edema and enhancing the fat freezing procedure. Also recently added is Celluma, light therapy for acne, facials and pain management.
“We would like to add and grow in more ways than one,” said Anderson. “Anything to compliment what we’re already doing.”
Those ideas include expanding the space to include an infrared sauna, more compression suits and an electrical muscle stimulator.
Before starting Cryo Beauty & Wellness, Anderson had not even heard of cryotherapy. Now, it is one of her passions.
“I sprayed people for 13 hours yesterday and it was like I was here maybe an hour. It just goes so fast,” said Anderson, “and it’s always something different.”
Anderson has been a full-time bus driver for Jay County Schools for 12 years, and will have to adjust business hours once the school year begins. Currently, the office is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday and Thursday. After school returns to session, it will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday and Thursday and from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday.
